Record

Johann Yun Baker is a Confederate citizen and a member of the 112th Militia, officially serving as a Confederate navyman. During the Solar War, he commands The Nereid — a strike cruiser converted from a freighter — making him one of the named commanders of the Protectorate's naval effort during the conflict.

His name appears in the Protectorate's major character roster alongside Haydn von Dehlin, Jaymeson Nicks, Cera Nicks, and Søren. The company he keeps in that listing suggests a figure of some significance to the Protectorate's operations — a naval commander whose role in the war's engagements remains to be detailed as the archive expands.

The conversion of The Nereid from freighter to strike cruiser is itself a note of character: it is a Protectorate ship in the Protectorate manner, made from what was available rather than purpose-built for war. The people who flew such ships tended to be people who had been doing something else before the war required them to do this instead.
